What the extension stores
Reading Rail stores your on/off state, dim level, reading unit, and text-spacing choice for each website hostname. This data stays in your browser’s local extension storage.
What it can see
The extension reads rendered text and its position on the page so it can place the rail and, only when you request it, pass the current line to your browser’s built-in speech service. Page content is not saved or sent to us.
Network and tracking
The extension itself makes no network requests. There are no analytics, cookies, advertising identifiers, accounts, or third-party scripts. The website likewise contains no analytics or tracking. If you choose Read aloud, your browser or operating system selects the voice; some user-configured voices may use their provider’s network service.
Removing data
Use “Reset this site” to remove your custom state for the current site, or uninstall Reading Rail to let the browser delete all extension storage.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the effective date and source repository will show the revision. Questions can be filed in the project’s public issue tracker.
